Before you buy a device
Safety checklist.
- Read the manufacturer’s contraindications before first use — and follow them.
- For LED devices: check the stated wavelengths and whether eye protection is required.
- For the US market, check whether the manufacturer states FDA clearance for the specific device, and for what use.
- Ask a doctor first if you are pregnant, have a skin condition, take photosensitizing medication or have a history of light sensitivity or seizures.
- Expect gradual, modest results. Be wary of “instant” or “clinical-grade” claims without sources.
